Superintendent Search - South Koochiching-Rainy River School District #363

The South Koochiching-Rainy River School District has formally launched our search for the next superintendent. In partnership with the Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA), we are committed to an inclusive and transparent process.

UPDATES:

5/8/26 – South Koochiching Rainy River School District, with assistance from the Minnesota School Boards Association, has selected Tara Lere as the finalist for the superintendent position and will be entering contract negotiations with her for an expected start date of July 1, 2026.

Tara Lere has served as the Superintendent of the Plummer-Worley, Idaho school district for the past two years.  Her experience and dedication to public education includes teaching and multiple roles serving the East Range Academy of Science and Technology.  The school board is looking forward to welcoming Tara back to Minnesota and working with her to provide excellent experiences for students. 

5/7/26 – The school board interviewed candidates and decided to extend second round interview invitations to Brad Johnson (Supt. Renville County West) and Tara Lere (Supt. Plummer-Worley, ID).

Interview Schedule
Second-round interviews are scheduled for May 8, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the school’s media center and are open to the public. The interviews will not be livestreamed. 

5/5/26 – South Koochiching Rainy River School District, with assistance from the Minnesota School Boards Association, has selected four finalists for the superintendent position. The school board reviewed candidates and decided to extend interview invitations to:
Alex Chiglo  (Teacher, Blackduck)
Brad Johnson (Supt. Renville County West)
Joseph Lamb (formerly Supt. Swan River, MT)
Tara Lere (Supt. Plummer-Worley, ID). 
 
Interview Schedule
First-round interviews are scheduled for May 7, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the school’s media center and are open to the public, with second-round interviews planned for May 8, 2026.
