Northome Robotics competes at Northern Minnesota Regional Tournament and sends 2 teams to Sections

The Northome Robotics teams competed on Dec. 2 at the Northern Minnesota Regional Lego Robotics Tournament.  There were 21 teams from all over Northwestern and North Central Minnesota competing at the tournament.  Teams came from as far away as Kittson County and Naytahwaush to compete.  The tournament was so large (3 teams more than last year) that the teams were put into two divisions for the day, Lakes Division and Woods Division.
Northome, thanks to a partnership with Koochiching County 4-H and Northome School, had four teams entered this year and all competed well.  As a whole, five trophies were earned by the Northome teams.
The Lightning Bolts (Colton Conell, Jackson Conell, Wyatt Forseen, Soren Pollard) did not win a trophy but did earn silver medals in the Woods Division.  They also put together a good run in the head-to-head competition and moved all the way up to 5th place despite being seeded 8th.
The Dynomite Girls (Jailyn Baird, Cloey Buentemeier, Riley Connell, Charlize Hallstrom, Morgan Humble) brought home the Judges Award for the Lakes Division by showing excellent growth over the year and performing well in all the different areas of the tournament.  In fact, the Dynomite girls posted the highest point run of any of the Northome teams during the day with a run of 105 points.
The I Love Turtles team (Andrew Fahey, Jackson Hildebrandt, Karl Kallio, Corey Kuhlman, Natasha McGuire) also won the Judges Award for the Woods Division by showing great team comradery and being very engaged and lots of team energy throughout the tournament.  They also won a wild card spot and advance to the Sectional Tournament in January.
The 5 Musketeers team (Geneva Holcomb, Riley Jaeckels, Abbey Rosson, Keirra Waller, Tristen Wickum) brought home three trophies for their efforts.  The team won the core values trophy for showing the best team work, coopertition, gracious professionalism all while having fun.  The team also won the Head-to-Head competition  for the Woods Division of the tournament.  The team also won the programming award for showing the best understanding of the basics of programing and use of the different tools within the programmig software.  The team won gold medals and earned a spot in the January Sectional Tournament as well.
Great job goes out to all 4 teams for their work on Saturday.  Good luck to the 5 Musketeers and I Love Turtles as they advance.
