3rd Team to advance

     High Tech Kids, the leader of First Lego League in Minnesota, offered a wildcard spot to the Dynamite Girls.  This means that a 3rd team from the Northome area will be advancing.
     This year, Koochiching County 4H supported 7 teams, four of which were located in Northome.  Three of these teams will travel to Minneapolis and represent Northome and Koochiching County.

 
 
Northome Robotics competes at Northern Minnesota Regional Tournament and sends 2 teams to Sections

     The Northome Robotics teams competed on Dec. 2 at the Northern Minnesota Regional Lego Robotics Tournament.  There were 21 teams from all over Northwestern and North Central Minnesota competing at the tournament.  Teams came from as far away as Kittson County and Naytahwaush to compete.  The tournament was so large (3 teams more than last year) that the teams were put into two divisions for the day, Lakes Division and Woods Division.

Northome sponsors 3 teams this year

The Northome lego robotics program is growing.  This year, the school/4H partnership will have three teams competing.  Back from last year are the I Love Turtles and the 3Rs.  New this year are the Lightning Bolts.

 
 
3R's Move on to Sectionals while I Like Turtles shows off consistency at 9th annual Northern Minnesota Regional Lego League Robotics Tournament

     Fourteen teams from all over Northwestern and North Central Minnesota traveled to Northome to compete in the Northern Minnesota Regional Leg League Tournament.  Northome School in cooperation with Koochiching County 4H sponsored two teams this year.  "I Like Turtles" and the 3R's represented Northome well at the tournament.  Despite a shorter work time this year due to the earlier tournament date and later arrival of the materials, both teams competed well in all phases of the competition.

Robotic Scientists show off their knowledge

The Robotic Scientist team took the opportunity on Dec. 11 to show off their skills at the robotics tournament. The rookie team won the research project portion of the judging earning a plaque for their tooth cavity project. They had solid performances in the technical judging and performance rounds as well. The team then won the team title and earned a trip to state during the awards ceremony.

Crazy 8's go Crazy at Regional Tournament

The Crazy 8s team had a wonderful tournament on Dec. 11. The team won the Technical portion of the judging earning them a plaque. The team also posted the highest scoring performance round of the day (235 points). Then, to end the day, they won the head-to-head competition. During the award ceremony, the team took the team title and earned a trip to the state tournament.
