3R's Move on to Sectionals while I Like Turtles shows off consistency at 9th annual Northern Minnesota Regional Lego League Robotics Tournament

Fourteen teams from all over Northwestern and North Central Minnesota traveled to Northome to compete in the Northern Minnesota Regional Leg League Tournament.  Northome School in cooperation with Koochiching County 4H sponsored two teams this year.  "I Like Turtles" and the 3R's represented Northome well at the tournament.  Despite a shorter work time this year due to the earlier tournament date and later arrival of the materials, both teams competed well in all phases of the competition.
I Like Turtles showed off their robot's consistency by racking up scores of 314, 320, and 327 on the mission board.  The team finished 4th overall in that category.  The 4th place finish is one of the highest that a Northome team has achieved.  The team finished with bronze medals for their impressive efforts.
The 3R's team took home the trophy for best robot programming for the day.  They also earned gold medals for the day.  At the end of the awards program, the team was announced as one of the four teams advancing to the newly formed Minnesota Sectional Tournament.  They will be travelling to Elk River in January to compete next.
