With only two outdoor meets under their cleats, the Bulldogs traveled to Walker to participate in the Northwoods Seven Conference Meet. It is the first time the teams ran under the new conference moniker. In previous years, the girls belonged to the Northwoods Six Conference while the boys belonged to the Northland Conference. This year, the Bagley-Fosston girls dropped out and Trek North joined. Both the boys and girls conferences now have the same schools (Cass Lake-Bena, Clearbrook Gonvick, Nevis, Northome/Kelliher/Blackduck, Pine River-Backus, Trek North, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley) so the conference was christened with a new name. Many Bulldogs earned All-Conference honors at the meet on Thursday, May 9. To be All-Conference, an athlete must place in the top three as an individual or be part of a relay that places in the top three. The following athletes earned this honor for 2013. Seniors: Carrie Carrigan (4 x 100 m relay), Justine Frenzel (4 x 100 m relay), Travis Olafson (4 x 100 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay), Caleb Schneider (800, 4 x 800 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay), Keith Shaughnessy (High Jump, 400, 200 4 x 400 m relay), Tristan Williams (4 x 100 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay) Juniors: Paula Pearsall (3200, 4 x 800 m relay) Sophomores: Cody Rankin (4 x 800 m relay, 4 x 100 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay) Freshmen: Logan Adams (110 m High Hurdles, 4 x 100 m relay), Rachel Fahey (Discus, 4 x 200 m relay, 800 m), Christina Grundmeier (4 x 800 m relay, 4 x 200 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay), Megan Hudec (4 x 800 m relay, 1600, 4 x 400 m relay), Matthew Jourdan (1600, 3200), Joseph Pfeifer (4 x 200), Giizhik Wagner (4 x 800 m relay), Brigette Williams (4 x 100 m relay), Michaela Williams (110 m Hurdles, 4 x 200 m relay, 4 x 100 m relay) 8th graders: Michael Chaffin (4 x 200 m relay), Larry Favela (4 x 200 m relay), Daniel Jourdan (4 x 800 m relay), Kezia Rahier (4 x 200 m relay, 4 x 400 m relay) 7th graders: Maddy Cease (4 x 800 m relay, 400), Cameron Eckstrom (4 x 200 m relay), Deja Palmer (1600 m, 800 m, 4 x 400 m relay). In addition, several athletes were able to claim the title of Conference Champions by winning their events. They are the boys 4 x 800 m relay team of Rankin, Wagner, D. Jourdan, C. Schneider, the girls 4 x 800 m relay team of Pearsall, Hudec, M. Cease, Grundmeier. Individually, the only three conference champions for the Bulldogs were crowned. Freshman Megan Hudec won the 1600 m run. Later freshman Rachel Fahey and senior Caleb Schneider swept the 800 m run. This was Schneider’s 5th straight year of earning All-conference in the 800 m. |
