Dear Northome families,
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions in place, Northome School will not be having any summer programming or food delivery for the 2020 summer. The safety and well-being of our students, families, and school staff is our top priority and has been our guiding factor for this decision. We will continue to work with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to determine the safest way to get school programming back in place for our Northome students.
Enjoy your summer and we will see you in the Fall. We will keep you updated with any new information we receive.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Principal Tammi at 218.897.5275 Ext 155.

Good Morning and Happy Thursday from Northome School. Per Governor Walz directive, this Friday, May 1st and Monday May 4th will be teacher planning days for all teachers across the state of Minnesota. There will be no Distance Learning for students on these two days. Northome School will still provide meal deliveries and homework drop off on these two days. On another note, we are working on planning a graduation ceremony for our Senior Class of 2020. More information will come out within the next few days. We miss seeing everyone. Our school is not the same without our students! Stay Safe everyone and as always, if you have questions please contact Principal Tammi at 218-897-5275 Ext. 155. Thanks for listening and have a great day!
The April 29, 2020 issue of the Mustang Express is now online. You can find it in the Express archives on the school website. Look for the button with the Express logo on the right side.
Good afternoon, at 2PM today Governor Walz will hold a press conference and cancel school for the remainder of the school year. We will continue with our Distance Learning program and School Food deliveries. School staff will meet to determine the best way to hold our 2020 Graduation while maintaining the Minnesota Department of Health Guidelines. More information on this to come. I would also like to remind families that are receiving food deliveries to please have a cooler or tote available for our staff to place the breakfast and lunches. Again, if you are receiving a food delivery, please have a cooler or tote available for our staff to place the breakfast and lunches. This is for the safety of all parties involved. Thanks for listening and have a great day.

Greetings 7th-12th Graders--
I wanted to write and remind all of our 7th-12th graders that although we are at home during this time, the expectation is that each student at Northome is receiving an education through our Distance Learning Program. The Northome teachers have been instructed to reach out to students via email, phone, text message, Google Hangout Chat etc...and for the most part this has been going well. However, we do have a few students that have not been connecting with teachers and this represents a challenge for our Distance Learning Program. So in a nutshell, students will not pass their 4th Qtr class if a teacher has not heard from you and if your coursework is not being completed. This is very important and could impact your graduation status!! My expectation for students that have not connected with their teachers within the last week, would be to please do so immediately. Again, you can do this through email, a phone call, text message, Google Chat etc...If you have questions and are unable to connect with your teacher(s) please call Mr. Tammi at 218-897-5275 Ext 155 or you can respond to this email and I will do my best to help you out. Thanks for taking the time to read this and enjoy the rest of your day.
The Mustang Express is still being published online. Check out the last two issues on the school website. Go to the link on The Northome School homepage.
There will be no food deliveries and daycare supervision on Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th. These are marked as No School days on the Northome school calendar. Daycare and Food deliveries will resume on Tuesday, April 14th after Easter break. Also, Northome staff will pick up school work Thursday, April 9. In an effort to limit hand to hand contact, please make sure any returned school work is in a cooler or bin so that it can be safely picked up by our staff. Thanks for your understanding and help with this matter. Have a great day!
This morning we started our Monday school work deliveries. Please provide a cooler or a bin that we can use to drop off the work, along with your breakfast and lunch. If you have a wet and sloppy driveway, you can place the cooler at the end of the driveway and this will prevent our school vehicles from tearing up your road. Again, we will deliver school work on Mondays and pick up work on Thursdays. Our staff have been told not to pick up any materials on days other than Thursdays. Thanks for your help and understanding with this process.
If you would like to check out a book from Northome library (the one in town) call Pat DeVries at the Shining Light Café 897-9786 or stick your head in the door and yell Pat. She will assist you in checking out your books. Our volunteer library is IMPORTANT to our community at this time. Thank you
