Meal Delivery Update

date 03/17/2020 author Corey White category Uncategorized comment Leave a comment

Northome School has received word from the Minnesota Department of Education that all of our students in Pre-K through Grade 12 are eligible to receive a Free Breakfast and Lunch that we will deliver to your home starting on Monday, March 23rd.  However, in order for this to happen, your child should have brought a consent form home that we need signed by a parent or guardian.  You can also find a copy of this form in the link below.  We cannot deliver meals without this consent form signed.  At this time we anticipate the meal drop off to happen mid-morning to early afternoon.  If you choose to participate in this program, you may want to think about leaving a small cooler or plastic bin on your doorstep that would enable Northome staff to just place the food in the safe container and leave your property.  Please call Principal Jeremy Tammi at 218-897-5275 Ext 155 if you have questions or comments.

Teacher Interaction

Northome School will be closing on Wednesday, March 18th.  Licensed and Classified staff will be expected to report to the Northome Campus for their regular duty day.  Classroom teachers will be interacting with families using multiple approaches of online access, phone calls, text messaging, U.S Mail, and/or face-to-face home visits.  Since this is new for all of us, we will take our direction from The Minnesota Department of Education and Minnesota Department of Health and act appropriately to ensure the safety of our staff, students and families.  This is a very fluid development, so please be aware of more information to come via a letter, Northome School Facebook Page, Northome School Website and the Honeywell Instant Alert.

Over the weekend, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued Emergency Executive Order 20-01 which will close all Pre-K through 12th grade Public Schools effective Wednesday, March 18th.  This includes Northome School as well.  The Governor’s Emergency Executive Order also expects schools to provide childcare for Full-Time Emergency Workers (including providers of healthcare; emergency medical services; long-term and post-acute care; law enforcement personnel; personnel providing correctional services; public health employees; firefighters and other first responders; and court personnel) for their children under the age of 12.  Please contact Principal Jeremy Tammi at 218-897-5275 Ext. 155 if you fit this criteria and need childcare assistance.
