Geometry: Syllabus

Course Content
Work:
Work for each Chapter of the text will include the following:
• Taking Notes
• Daily Assignments
• In class activities
• Quizzes
• A review assignment
• A final chapter test

Grading:
It is extremely important for students to complete work on time so that the following day's activities and concepts make sense. Each daily concept builds onto the next one.

Grading Scale:
90% and above =  A
80% - 90% =  B
70% - 80%  =  C
60% - 70%  =  D
59% and below  =  F

Quizzes and Test are 60% of the grade.
Notes and Assignments are 40% of the grade.

All assignments are due the next day if a student would like full credit.
Late assignments are marked down 20% the first day.
Late assignments are worth 50% if they are handed in after I have returned completed/corrected assignments back to the class.
Assignments become a permanent zero in the grade book if they are not turned in within on week (5 days).

Extra Credit:  will only be given when all other assignments are completed to the best of your ability.  Extra credit assignments can not take the place of a regular required assignment.

Absences
If you are going to be absent from class due to a school related activity, it is your responsibility to get your assignment from me ahead of time and the due date will be the same as the rest of the class.

If you are absent due to sickness, you have two days to complete your missing work before they will be marked down as late.  The school's policies with regards to unexcused absences will be followed.

Extra Help:
In addition to individual help during class, I am available for extra help before school and after school if you make arrangements with me beforehand.  Tutor/Mentor and Catch Up are the other places to seek help.  If the concepts get difficult, it is best to get help as soon as possible ... as new concepts are based on the old and the difficulties will just get worse.
